Disney's Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom is often compared to a glorified zoo, maybe due in part to it being home to 1,700 animals representing 250 different species but it is far more than that. Animal Kingdom takes “edutainment” to a whole new level. Animal Kingdom features five different lands, Discovery Island, Pandora – The World of Avatar, Africa, Asia, and Dinoland U.S.A.

The most iconic symbol of the park is the 14 story Tree of Life. This artificial tree features more than 300 hand-carved animals in its trunk. At night, the tree comes alive in the projection show called, “awakens the tree”. This is a must-see nighttime spectacular. In addition to this amazing nighttime projection show, Animal Kingdom is also home to the most popular live show, Festival of the Lion King. This show features explosions of color, music, and acrobatics. Guest will hear some of their favorite songs and see audio-animatronic and live costumed characters from the beloved movie The Lion King. This is a live show not to miss.

One of the main attractions is Kilimanjaro Safari, which takes you on a real-life African safari ride through the African Savannah. In Asia, visitors can ride Expedition Everest. This ride features a two-way track system that takes riders forward, then backward when they are attacked by a yeti. Another ride in Asia is Kali River Rapids. This water raft ride tells the story of how illegal logging can threaten the ecological balance of Asia. Pandora – World of Avatar is the newest land at Animal Kingdom and is home to the most popular ride, Flight of Passage. Flight of Passage is a simulation ride that allows riders to ride on the back of a banshee as they glide through Pandora.

As you can see Animal Kingdom has a lot more to offer than just having animals. There is a sense of appreciation for the land and animals that you can take away from visiting this incredible park.
