Upfront, full apologies for now placing that Belinda Carlisle 80s earworm in your head for the rest of the day.

When it comes to traveling, there will always be tiers of service, accommodations, dining, access, and indulgence.  Yes, we all first look at that economy plane ticket for price, but there are not many among us who does not at least mentally drool a bit at the thought of all that space and attention up in the rarefied air of first class.

Just as there is always going to be a demand for bargains, so too will there always a demand for luxury options.  More legroom, specialty cuisine, attentive service, personal assistance, plush bedding, tailored-to-you pillows, cocktails, meal planning.  People are willing to pay for an elevated experience, and all areas of hospitality are paying attention.  That includes cruise lines.

Like many of the big resort hotels in Vegas that now have smaller, luxury, boutique hotels located within them, Norwegian Cruise Line has their own cruise within a cruise for customers wishing for the ultimate in pampering and indulgence.  Under the direction of Norwegian Cruise Holdings President and CEO, Frank Del Rio, the cruise line has taken his innovative experience in adding “upper premium” accommodations to the cruise industry and incorporated it into the ultimate experience on Norwegian.  Welcome to The Haven.

This special all suite enclave (found on the Bliss, Escape, Getaway, Breakaway, Epic, Gem, Jade, Jewel and Pearl), offer a variety of elegant accommodations depending on the ship.  Upscale staterooms with categories like Spa Suites, Family Suites, Owner’s Suites, and Garden Villas.  Each offering something unique, from spa related amenities and services, to square footage and sleeping arrangements for larger sailing parties, to jaw-dropping balconies.

Attention to detail actually begins before you embark when you receive a letter from pre-cruise concierge services offering to arrange dining requests, excursions, even what type of pillow you may enjoy on your bed.  Their goal is to have your suite turned into your personal Haven before you arrive.

Included in the price of your keyed off slice of HeAVEN, you will enjoy a concierge and butler to attend to your needs and requests.  Suites contain cappuccino makers, luxury Bulgari bath products, a welcome bottle of sparkling wine, flowers, fruit, bottled water.  Perks also include priority embarkation with a private lounge as you wait to board, expedited debarkation, show reservations, dining requests, a special cocktail reception with the Captain and Officers.  The Haven has its own private restaurant and dedicated area for private breakfast and lunch for Haven guests.

Feeling pampered yet?

If you cruise, you know that space is at a premium in a stateroom.  Most are innovative and inventive in terms of making the most of the square footage, but spreading out is not typically feasible, especially in the bathroom area.  In your Haven suite?  Arms wide open.  Ample vanity space, drawers, mirrors, and… wait for it … GREAT LIGHTING!

If you’re like me, the bed and bedding can make or break a hotel stay or cruise experience.  Fear not – the bed in your suite is literally a haven within your Haven.  Plush feather duvets, whisper soft sheets, and a mattress ready to enfold your every curve as the ship gently rocks you to sleep.

As if these upgrades are not enough, enjoy having a personal butler and concierge to attend to your every need.  Each day you will return and find a special treat arranged by your butler – perhaps sandwiches, chocolates, canapes.  Should you manage to pull yourself away from the Haven to explore the ship, take your suite’s programmed phone with you.  Your butler and concierge are a mere button push away to cater to your every want and whim.

Hate waiting in line?  Enjoy special Suite seating at shows, and express exits from the ship on port days.  After all, every minute of a vacation counts, right?

If you reserve an Owner’s Suite, Deluxe Owner’s Suite or Garden Villa you will enjoy complimentary bottles of liquor as well.  Garden Villa guests find their reservation also includes private transportation with 25 miles of the port on debarkation day.

Still not enough?  How about Haven only spaces on each ship?  Depending on your ship, you may have a private pool area with hot tub, dining tables, loungers, and even a retractable roof.  An upper level with loungers may also be on your ship.  Private dining is a luxury that truly defines this cruise ship within a cruise ship experience.  The Haven restaurant is available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  A special Valet is on hand to handle any drink, in-suite, or courtyard dining requests.

While all Norwegian ships have their own names, personalities, configurations, even godparents, the cruise line has been expanding The Haven concept even further.  On the Epic, and all ships built since her inaugural run (2010), you will find the Haven restaurant, a Haven lounge, and complimentary access to Posh Beach Club – the sundeck on the ship.  The Epic also features the Haven Bar and Grill.

While this luxury and attention to detail are swoon worthy, you will be surprised to find that the prices won’t make you weak in the knees.  Archer Luxury Travel is dedicated to finding the best prices and perks, and once booked, will continue to monitor your reservation for any additional specials that may pop up.  So what are you waiting for?  You know you want to.
